Kingmakers demo
There is no demo to download. One is planned: the developers have said it will be the game’s first mission with its tutorial, and that it can be played in multiplayer. The game director has said in writing that he is not committing to a timeline for it.

What the demo is planned to contain
“The current plan is for the demo to include the first mission in the game, which includes a tutorial. It is also fully multiplayer.”
Paul Fisch, game director. From the Pinned developer update, Steam discussions
“Fully multiplayer” matters because the whole campaign is built for drop-in co-op with up to four players. A multiplayer demo means friends could try that part together rather than alone. How co-op works is on Kingmakers co-op and multiplayer.
When
No date. In the same update the director described a test build as close to the demo, and was explicit that he was not promising when it would ship: “I’m not confirming the timeline on releasing the demo”. Since then, the developers’ next public step has been the Steam playtest sign-up rather than a demo download.
The demo some people already played
A playable build was shown in public once, at the BiliBili World convention in China, translated into Chinese for the event. Two posts describe it:
“Kingmakers attended BiliBili World over the weekend with our first ever public playable demo!”
The Kingmakers team. From Steam announcement: KINGMAKERS at BiliBili World
“We translated the most recent playtest build to chinese and It is currently playable at BiliBili World in China(BiliBili is basically the Chinese Youtube).”
Paul Fisch, game director. From the Pinned developer update, Steam discussions
That build was for the convention floor, not a download. Asked why only people in China could play it, the game director tied it to the demo:
“We are currently working on the public demo. The version available at Bili Bili World was a part of what will be the public demo.”
What that build actually was, from the one hands-on report, is on the Kingmakers BiliBili World demo.
