Kingmakers crossplay

Not announced, for or against. Kingmakers has store pages on two PC stores, Steam and the Epic Games Store, and neither page lists crossplay among its features. The game director’s only known mention of it was as part of the work of selling on more stores, without saying what Kingmakers will support. Consoles are not targeted for the first release, and no crossplay with PS5 or Xbox has been announced either.

Co-op is online, for up to 4 players. Whether a Steam player and an Epic player can join each other has not been said. What would change this: a crossplay feature on either store page, or a developer post about it.

Both stores have a Kingmakers page for PC. Neither says whether the two versions can play together. Store details are on Kingmakers on Steam and Epic.

Not announced

PC with consoles

PS5 and Xbox were named as targets, though not for the first Early Access release, and the director said Xbox’s future was unclear to him. The console picture is on Kingmakers on consoles.

Same screen

Not crossplay, but often asked alongside it. Co-op is online only, so there is no split screen.

What the store pages list

Steam files the game under these categories, and none of them is a crossplay label:

The Epic Games Store page lists two features, Co-op and Single Player. For an unreleased game these lists are what the publisher has filled in so far, so a missing entry means nothing has been declared, not that crossplay has been ruled out.

What the director has said

It came up sideways, in an answer about whether the game would also be sold on GOG:

“GoG isn’t ruled out or anything. For EA it isn’t targeted right now though because getting on additional storefronts is actually a significant amount of work in terms of supporting crossplay/achievements/etc, and we are focused on getting to EA as soon as we can.”

It shows that crossplay is part of what the studio weighs when it adds a store. It does not say whether Steam and Epic players will be matched together, and it should not be read as a promise either way.
